Mine is a 883cc R98 carbed bike. Extras are a Corbin King & Queen seat that's good for 8 or 9 hours in the saddle. Givi monolock 36 litre hard luggage. Heated grips. Touring Scottoiler. Car socket power point added to keep the phone charged up.

BMW 1150GS

Steve has a standard 2003 1150GS. This comes with BMW lockable panniers (which internally are an odd shape making packing awkard), removable pillion seat. It also has a BMW power point and heated grips.

How the bikes compare.

As touring partners, the bikes are well matched. They both seem comfortable cruising at 80-90 mph for long periods. Fuel tank range is somewhere between 200 - 250 miles. The BMW came with panniers, heated grips, power point as standard, where-as I have had to have it all fitted to the Tiger as after market accessories. The plus sides to the Tiger are that my 36 litre boxes are a normal shape in comparison to the BMWs. Hein Gericke have soft inner bags for 36 litre panniers which make packing really easy.
